Trauma is a somber shudder,
a howling wind at night
Eerie, ancient, reminiscent of death, sobering
My soul collapses, a humming vibration
Shock

“Oh, God, is this really happening again?”

The gods of my belly laughed inside me
On the days my life turned upside down
Hallowed out, the jackhammer pulse radiating
in my core, that devil depth
I sniffled like a child after a cruel spanking, swollen

Red eyes, mascara smudges on pillowcase, mourning softly, gentle tremors and twitches
Another moment hidden under blankets
